5 Ways To Treat Mum for Mother's Day

Don't forget Mother's Day is coming up on March 22nd. Here are five ideas for how you can treat Mum to a really special day!

After setting the tone for the day with a beautiful floral gift, what about treating Mum to a really enjoyable and entertaining evening out. Whether she likes opera, pop, or jazz check out your local venues for tickets to a concert or even a theatrical show. It's a great opportunity to dress up and have an event to look forward to. You could even book her in for a decadent wash and blow-dry and manicure at her local salon the day before to really make it a luxurious weekend Mother's Day package.

Recreate childhood photos - but with you as an adult! Dig out the family albums and have fun choosing some images to replicate. Inspiration could come from pictures of you on your first bicycle, in a swimming pool on a family holiday, or your first day at school. You could also digitize some of your favourites and upload them to a digital photo frame for her to enjoy on a mantelpiece or shelf.

Lunch with a difference, like a posh picnic, could be a real surprise. Collect her on the day armed with a hamper full of sumptuous goodies and a bottle of her favourite tipple to enjoy a sunny afternoon in a lush park, National Trust site, or by the seaside. Even her garden (or yours) could make the perfect location to pass some quality family time together. Take cosy blankets just in case!

Create a mini kitchen garden in a box brimming with fresh herbs and flowers. Use a carton like a wooden fruit and veg crate from your local supermarket or garden centre, line it with plastic (punch holes in the bottom for drainage), add a little gravel or woodchip then fill with soil and add your chosen plants. You could even edge it with flowers to plant out later (like a tiny sweet alyssum variety or trailing edible nasturtium) for extra prettiness.

Tell your mum just how much you appreciate all the things that she's done for you, like: “Thank for helping me learn to drive,” “Thank you for teaching me to tell the time,” “Thank you for helping me through a difficult patch last year”. Write your little thank you notes on hand-decorated pieces of card, fold each one tightly and pop into a jar for her to read at leisure. Or hide the notes between layers of beautifully handmade confectionery. We have some delicious options chocolates you can add to your Flowercard to make her gift extra tasty this year!
